Recently I found myself inside the living room of Photographer Sam Mothersole along with 5 other photographers.
Why? Yan Fam Way workshop – that’s why.
Straight away I felt at ease with Yan and my surroundings. There is this presence about her that is so inviting and warm, her welcome hug felt like I had just been reunited with a long lost friend – seriously – there is nothing pompousness about this rock star photographer at all. I think it also helped that during the workshop she nestled herself snuggling and lovingly inside a bean bag on the lounge floor… Respect to her!
I can see why she decided to become a workshop teacher- this is certainly her niche; Yan really is so darn good at what she does. An open book, knowledgeable, insightful, and direct. She is like a fluffy bunny with a little bit of tiger in her!
This workshop was certainly a “ah ha!” moment for me – a lightbulb went off, and I realised I had been starving my creativity, and neglecting me as much as I was neglecting my business.
I could write oodles about my Yan Fam Way experience and in fact, I did. See here is the thing – spoiler alert! I decided that what I took away from this was uniquely mine. If you are Photographer reading this and have been contemplating attending one of Yan’s workshop’s you would not be disappointed – I mean you just have to read the testimonial section of her website and you will get the “feels”.
To my dear supportive friends and family, my beautiful clients – past and future, if you are still reading, this is for you …
… It’s not what or how I do this (because that part I know) … but WHY I do what I do …? …
I love connection, I love adventures, I love seeing how he looks at you, how you cuddle your children, I love curiosity, the quirkiness of a personality, the quietness of an embrace,
I love noise, movement in your hair, the falling tears on a cheek, I love spontaneity of a moment, the richness of a bond, I love the wonder and unexpected joy,
And most importantly … I love how every single person is unique and their story is too.
This is why I do what I do …!
“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.”
